Crisp fall air, leaves starting to turn ever so slightly in color, State Fair ending and nice cool sleeping weather….Yes, those are nice, but the MOST wonderful time of the year is the smell of new crayons, newly sharpened pencils, shiny new shoes, the all important question of “backpack or messenger bag” followed by “sparkles or Hannah Montana?” and of course….the FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL.
I know…I know…that does sound a bit extreme as far as the MOST WONDERFUL time of the year…but as a mom who stays home with her kids, it is a good time of the year. I love love love being home with my girls and feel so privileged to be able to. I love summers with them – going to all the parks, swimming at the beach, trips to the zoo and the waterpark with friends, but by the last couple weeks of summer they are fighting over who gets the pink cup, who got to sit by mom last for a meal, who looked at who and all sense of normalcy is gone. We all crave that daily routine – as mundane as that sounds, it works like a well greased machine for us.
I love my children, I feel blessed that I am a mom and get to be able to be a “stay at home mom” … but the first day of school is also a blessing! 🙂
For all of you moms out there, HAPPY BACK TO SCHOOL week!!!
